- Big Sur: Located about 90 miles (145 km) in length along California's coastal Highway 1. The Big Sur begins just south of Carmel ends at San Simeon.
- Coastal Trail: In Monterey, the Coastal Trail is open from the Aquarium to the Seaside. The Coastal Trail covers a total of 18 miles from Pacific Grove to Castroville.
- Garland Park, Camel Valley Road: The Park is located on Carmel Valley Road about 8.5 miles from Highway 1, and has elevations from 200 to 2000 feet. Known for its scenic beauty, you’ll find willow-covered banks of the Carmel River and floodplain and open oak savannas and spectacular vistas on top of the northern crest of the Santa Lucia Mountains.
- Point Lobos: This nature preserve is located three miles south of Carmel on Highway 1 in the Point Lobos State Reserve and offers sightseeing, photography, painting, nature study, picnicking, Scuba diving, and jogging. You’ll find rare plant communities, endangered archeological sites, unique geological formations, and incredibly rich flora and fauna of both land and sea.

- Old Fisherman's Wharf: A visit to the Monterey Peninsula just isn't complete without visiting Old Fisherman's Wharf for shopping and dining. The Wharf has a number of great restaurants, seafood, souvenir shops, theatre, and the sights and sounds of Monterey's past.
- Monterey Old Town: The Monterey Old Town Historic District is a National Historic Landmark, which includes buildings from the 18th-19th centuries during the Spanish colonial. Morning tours begin daily at 10:30am at the Pacific House Museum on Custom House Plaza. Afternoon tours (Saturday and Sunday only) begin at 2:00pm at the Cooper-Molera Adobe, corner of Polk, Alvarado and Munras.
- Cannery Row: This Old cannery area in Monterey has been converted to include the peninsula's finest restaurants, hotels, and shopping at 84 specialty stores.
